What is a Zip file format?
A ZIP file contains one or more files that have been compressed, to reduce file size. The ZIP file also will allow you to upload one file rather than uploading all your photos individually.
How do I create a Zip file?
Microsoft Windows XP and later users
- Create a new folder.
- Put ALL the photos you want to send us in the folder you just created.
- Right-click the folder and click ‘Send To’ and then click ‘Compressed (zipped) Folder’.
If done successfully, the computer should create a new .ZIP file with the name of the folder you right-clicked. For example, if you right-clicked on a folder named “nick-and-jeni”, the compressed folder would become “nick-and-jeni.zip” and be located in the same directory.
Microsoft Windows 98 and earlier users
Because other versions of Microsoft Windows do not come pre-bundled with their own compression utility, it is up to the user to install and use a third-party compression utility.
Mac OSX users
- Create a new folder.
- Put ALL the photos you want to send us in the folder you just created
- Control-click or right-click the folder that you want to zip.
- On the pop-up contextual menu, choose and click on Compress “file name”.
